The 'dak nam '

In Bengali tradition, the ' dak nam ' is not an uncommon phenomenon. People have two names: dak nam vs bhalo nam. Dak nam can be anything and everything like- Puchko, Buro, Buria, Roltu, Goltu, Chuti, Bubai, Tubai, Tompa, Titli, Tisha, many more, whatever one feels. These are basically the embarrassing ones which is popular among the closed family members and few childhood friends. This name may be conferred immediately at the child's birth or may be later after few days when calling 'baby' again and again might juxtapose with someone elses's baby. The ' bhalo nam' on the other hand, is conveyed to the society in a very hubbub ceremony, ' Namkaran' , of laughters and pride, where everyone suggests a name and finally after performing some rituals, an appropriate, meaningful name is given to the child. It is never easy to start something new, especially if it’s your long-lost hidden passion. But, once you make up your mind to give wings to this fervent burning desire, it may be answered with certitude that nothing comes amid. The monotony of our day-to-day existence pushes the desires that were always embedded somewhere in the farthest corner of our mind and heart, which have certainly been lost in memory. The evocation of this fervent memory burgeons at some point in life when we regret not achieving it earlier, and for pursuing something that was never our sphere of concern. This little sprout germinated from the intense thoughts of our mind starts putting out its shoots. Here, the mind plays a trick, making the individual vulnerable both emotionally and mentally. TO FORGIVE OR NOT TO?

“ Grace comes to forgive and then forgive again. ”- Rumi . The act of forgiveness is a two-way path. To seek forgiveness. To forgive. It requires most of the discerned courage to accept one’s fault and asked to be forgiven by the person whom it was intentionally or unknowingly being hurt. But it provides immense happiness and satisfaction once this act is done without being prejudiced. It provides the independence to face the person unescorted by any guilt . And oneself will earn the freedom of the feathered friends flying up at the sky. This provides the inner calmness and tranquillity of mind . The act of giving forgiveness is tougher than the above proclaimed feat. It pinches the wounds which were once fathomless and might have healed with time or might not have.
